What Code 93 is
Code 93 is a compact alphanumeric linear symbology developed as a higher-density successor to Code 39, documented in bwip-js/BWIPP.
Generate it now
Enter your data to see a live Code 93 preview, then export PNG or SVG.
Valid input
Code 93 encodes the same base character set as Code 39 plus four control characters used internally; the two check characters are optional (off by default) and, when turned on, are always freshly computed from your data -- there is no mode where an existing pair you supply yourself is checked against the data.
Key options
Supported options include includetext, includecheck (adds two computed Modulo-47 check characters), height, and scale.
Output and printing
Export PNG or SVG; Code 93's higher density than Code 39 lets it fit more data in less label width.
Common uses
Code 93 is used for compact alphanumeric inventory and logistics labels where Code 39's width is a constraint.
Example
See the live preview above, seeded with a bwip-js-verified valid value.
Size guidance
Code 93 still needs a clear quiet zone on both sides for reliable scanning.
Troubleshooting
Check digits are computed automatically -- do not append your own, and use Code 93 Extended if you need full ASCII.
