GS1 Data Matrix Rectangular sized for growth
Traceability labels that may need to carry additional Application Identifiers later benefit from a larger rectangular size chosen up front, so the printed footprint does not need to change if the payload grows -- this generator fixes a larger size by default.
Same generator, one preset applied
This experience uses the same capability as the primary generator, with the symbol fixed to the 16x48 rectangular size ("version": "16x48") instead of bwip-js's own auto-selected 16x36 default.
Example data
The generator is seeded with a bwip-js-verified valid value, distinct from the primary's example.
Workflow
Enter your GS1 Application Identifier data, confirm the preview, then export SVG or PNG for the label artwork.
Job-specific settings
No job-specific options beyond the fixed 16x48 size are applied here.
Scanning notes
A reader capable of decoding rectangular Data Matrix symbols is required -- not every 2D reader supports the rectangular format.
Common mistakes
A malformed Application Identifier or a bad checksum on a check-digit-bearing AI are the most common rejections; neither is affected by the fixed size preset itself.
Standard
GS1 Data Matrix Rectangular is defined in the GS1 General Specifications.
